Robin R. Kutinya

I have been surrounded by art from an early age. My Zimbabwean father was an acclaimed sculptor, and I began sculpting rhino at the age of five, often assisting him in finishing his pieces. By ten, I had sold my first collection of birds and turtles — the beginning of a lifelong connection to sculpture and the study of animal and human form.

I work across a range of media, with a particular affinity for stone. Materials such as granite, marble, jasper and sodalite offer both contrast and character, allowing me to explore texture, movement and form through each piece. I also work in wax for bronze casting, which brings greater fluidity and versatility to my practice.

My work is held in private collections internationally, including the USA, Europe and Australia. Notable commissions include two life-size tigers and a collection for the National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra. I have also exhibited internationally, including in the United States and South Africa.
