“Sunshine & Salt Water II”, (The first having already been sold), is an abstract expression of Cape Town’s iconic Atlantic coast.

The bright yellow is symbolic of the African sunshine. The deep blues showcasing that icy Atlantic sea spray, set against the background of mottled white, sandy tones typical of the Cape’s beach sand.

The Artist conveys the energy of a hot summer day at the beach using bold colour, broad and wild brushstrokes (wild like the Cape waters) with the joyful exuberance of a child at play with her new paints and brushes.

Using signature scribbles and lines; thick paint-stick “glyphs” resemble big boulders or rocks, synonymous to the Cape’s beaches. One might consider the piece is inspired by the iconic “Boulders Beach” of Simonstown, or Perhaps Clifton.

The Artist asks you to let go of the pursuit for ‘perfection’ celebrating the albeit carefully considered ‘imperfections’ with the drips, sprays, speckles, overly textured “paint outside the lines” kind of playfulness, that our souls crave. True Freedom.
